FDA MedWatch recently announced that H&P industries, Inc., initiated a voluntary product recall of ALL LOTS of Providine Prep Pads. Providine Prep Pads are private labeled for many accounts. H&P industries, Inc . is a manufacturer of over-the-counter products.
These Iodine Prep Pads are used by doctors, hospitals and individuals to prevent infection in minor cuts, burns, and scrapes. They are labeled as an antiseptic prior to surgery for preparation of the skin. The Providine Prep Pads were distributed nationwide, and were packaged in individual packets. They were sold in a box of 100 packets.
Use of this recalled product can lead to life-threatening infections. Those who are at particular risk include the following individuals:
– Neonates;
– Immune suppressed patients; and
– Surgical patients.
