This past weekend in Walton County, eight people were ejected from a vehicle and two children injured when an SUV overturned several times reports Atlanta Journal-Constitutional.
The driver of a 2001 Dodge Durango lost control of the SUV as he was driving southbound on Preston Road. Jeremy Gillstrap Sr, the driver, drove onto the roadway and then overcorrected which sent the SUV across the roadway. As the vehicle crossed over the roadway, it overturned several times. Spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol, Gordy Wright, said that two children in booster seats inside the SUV were not seriously injury. The SUV was holding ten family members and friends.
Seven people in the SUV were transported to different hospitals. Lindsay Garrett, 17 years old, Taylor Hendrix, 17 years old, and Jessie Morgan, 19 years old, were taken to Athens Regional Medical Center.
Lydia Gillstrap, two years old, was transported to Walton Medical Center. Grady Gillstrap, 4 years old, Matthew Gillstrap, 11 years old, and Jeremy Gillstrap Jr., 6 years old, were transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. The people inside the SUV were from the Monroe area—about 45 miles east of Atlanta.
Gordy Wright says that charges are currently pending against Jeremy Gillstrap, the driver.
