Several days ago, a MARTA bus collided with a vehicle head-on. The MARTA bus was following route 119 and was going to turn into the Indian Creek MARTA station off Redan Road, according to Atlanta Journal Constitution. As the bus was turning, another vehicle swerved into its lane. The vehicle struck the bus on the front left side.
13 people were injured from this collision, including a three year old. There have been no reported life-threatening injuries. The three year old was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. The others who were injured were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The driver of this vehicle was cited with failure to maintain a lane.
In these circumstances, the importance of under insured motorist coverage becomes important. Those involved in collisions will need it when at fault drivers limits of insurance will be exhausted pretty quickly. The purpose of Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UM Coverage) is that a driver is insured against damages caused by another motorist who does not have liability insurance or does not have enough insurance. UM Coverage pays for medical and property repair costs so that injured drivers are not left with the burden of paying those costs which they had no role in causing. UM Coverage is an important, often over-looked aspect of insurance coverage.
