Six vehicles were involved in a crash, shutting down all lanes on I-20, last Saturday on June 25, 2011.
It was after 5:00 p.m. when Deputies were called out to mile marker 29, reports Channel 12, WRDW-TV, Augusta. A vehicle was heading westbound when the vehicle crashed into the guard rail. This was near the exit for Wire Road. When this vehicle crashed into the guard rail, it caused other vehicles to crash into the back of the vehicle. One of those vehicles was also a motorcycle.
Traffic was directed onto the exit ramp since lanes near the exit were closed. The traffic was then directed back onto the interstate. Authorities report that there were no major injuries in this chain reaction crash involving six vehicles. However two people were taken to the hospital.
Accidents which involve more than two of three cars often will result in a shutdown of the roadway, depending on the severity of the crash and the injuries involved.
