On the eve of September 19 into September 20th, utility crews worked overnight to restore power in Dawson County, Georgia after a hit and run suspect wrecked his car and split a power pole in half.

According to WSBTV, Channel 2, the vehicle crash occurred near the intersection of Harmony Church Road and Georgia 400.

20 year old Allan Dire was driving the truck that smashed into a power pole.  The crash was a result of Dire trying to escape after hitting a different car in a Kroger parking lot.  An officer saw Dire’s vehicle and it matched the description given.  The officer gave pursuit and followed Dire a short distance; then the crash occurred.

Authorities say that the crash trapped a 13 year old girl inside the truck.  She was rescued after an hour and a half.  The power pole that Dire struck was on top of the truck.  The power had to be cut before workers could do anything to help this girl.

This teenager was flown to Egleston Hospital and is currently in serious condition.  Dire is facing at least seven traffic charges and was taken to jail.

Fleeing the scene of an accident is a serious offense.  Law enforcement officials come down even harder on drivers who shirk responsibility and flee.  In this case, Dire will be held responsible for not one, but now two accidents.
